Fixing the renormalization scheme in NNLO perturbative QCD using conformal limit arguments.

چکیده
We discuss how the renormalisation scheme ambiguities in QCD can be fixed, when two observables are related, by requiring the coefficients in the perturbative expansion relating the two observables to have their conformal limit values, i.e. to be independent of the β-function of the renormalised coupling. We show how the next-to-leading order BLM automatic scale fixing method can be extended to next-to-next-to-leading order to fix both the renormalisation scale and β2 in a unique way. As an example we apply the method to the relation between Bjorken’s sum rule and Re+e− and compare with experimental data as well as other scheme fixing methods. Typeset using REVTEX

Quark Mass Renormalization in the MS and RI schemes up to the NNLO order
We compute the relation between the quark mass defined in the minimal modified MS scheme and the mass defined in the “Regularization Invariant” scheme (RI), up to the NNLO order. The RI scheme is conveniently adopted in lattice QCD calculations of the quark mass, since the relevant renormalization constants in this scheme can be evaluated in a non-perturbative way. The NNLO contribution to the ...
متن کاملThe Principle of Maximum Conformality
A key problem in making precise perturbative QCD predictions is the uncertainty in determining the renormalization scale of the running coupling αs(μ ). It is common practice to guess a physical scale μ = Q which is of order of a typical momentum transfer Q in the process, and then vary the scale over a range Q/2 and 2Q. This procedure is clearly problematic since the resulting fixed-order pQCD...
متن کاملQuark masses and the chiral condensate with a non-perturbative renormalization procedure
We determine the quark masses and the chiral condensate in the MS scheme at NNLO from Lattice QCD in the quenched approximation at β = 6.0, β = 6.2 and β = 6.4 using both the Wilson and the tree-level improved SW-Clover fermion action. We extract these quantities using the Vector and the Axial Ward Identities and nonperturbative values of the renormalization constants. We compare the results ob...
متن کاملThe Conformal Template and New Perspectives for Quantum Chromodynamics
Conformal symmetry provides a systematic approximation to QCD in both its perturbative and nonperturbative domains. One can use the AdS/CFT correspondence between Anti-de Sitter space and conformal gauge theories to obtain an analytically tractable approximation to QCD in the regime where the QCD coupling is large and constant. For example, there is an exact correspondence between the fifth-dim...
متن کاملConformal Symmetry as a Template for QCD∗
Conformal symmetry is broken in physical QCD; nevertheless, one can use conformal symmetry as a template, systematically correcting for its nonzero β function as well as higher-twist effects. For example, commensurate scale relations which relate QCD observables to each other, such as the generalized Crewther relation, have no renormalization scale or scheme ambiguity and retain a convergent pe...
